Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Cde David Musabayana has set up a team to resolve the longstanding dispute between the people of Makaha area of Mudzi and mining investors that is threatening sanity in the area.

Cde Musabayana who held a meeting with the local people and representatives of M and M Mining owned by Mathias and Mildred Madzivanzira said the dispute over mining rights are retrogressive and needs to be resolved once and for all so that there is sanity and progress.

The locals blame the Mines and Minerals Act of 1961 for the clashes saying the act favours people with money at the expense of locals.

Mudzi South legislator Cde Jonathan Samkange said the biggest problem is that locals have not been consulted of mining developments in the area.

The committee is made up of the provincial administrator, the district administrator, council chief executive officer, Ministry of Mines officials, traditional leadership, representatives of the locals, investors and the local legislator.
