UPDATED: VP Chiwenga meets diplomats

Vice President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga held bilateral discussions with Germany ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr Thorsten Hutter at the Munhumutapa Offices in Harare this Friday morning.

The two discussed political and economic issues.

On the political front, Ambassador Thorsten Hutter said Germany and the European Union are very pleased to be invited to send a team of observers to the coming harmonised elections.

Dr Hutter said Germany is very willing to continue to engage with Zimbabwe on political and economic issues.

He said the various German companies that were in the country this week interacting with Zimbabwean business people are impressed and pointing to better Germany- Zimbabwe relations.

Concerning some German entities whose BIPPAS status had been violated he said the vice president had assured him they would be resolved.

Later on, Vice President Chiwenga met with Botswana ambassador to Zimbabwe Retired General Louis Fisher who expressed Botswana’s readiness to cooperate with Zimbabwe in various sectors as the two countries share a border.

Vice President Chiwenga and the Botswana ambassador are long time friends as Retired General Fisher is former Commander Botswana Defence Forces.

General Fisher expressed his country’s gratitude for being given the honour to host President Mnangagwa recently.

Meanwhile, Germany ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr Thorsten Hutter says Finance and Economic Development Minister Cde Patrick Chinamasa, the government envoy who has been dispatched to Europe, is welcome in Germany.

He was reacting to a media report that Cde Chinamasa had been barred from entering Germany.
